Anam Cara Housing with Care

Anam Cara Housing with Care, located in Glasnevin, Dublin, is a "housing with care" facility rather than a traditional nursing home. It offers a supportive living environment for older people, including those with dementia, aiming to provide a social model of care that promotes independence.

Opened in 2007 and operated by Fold Housing Association Ireland, Anam Cara provides 56 units of accommodation, with 28 specifically for those living with dementia and 28 for older people over 65 with a need for 24-hour care and support. The facility is managed by Maureen Mooney.

The "housing with care" model at Anam Cara allows residents to live more independently than in a typical nursing home, with their own private living spaces, while still having access to 24/7 care and support. The facility develops individual, person-centered care plans that cover medication management, personal care, nutrition, and social, spiritual, and emotional well-being.
